What is Sleep Apnea?
Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Central Sleep Apnea

Obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) is a sleep-related breathing disorder. Breathing is reduced or stopped for extended periods. The body panics as the brain receives no oxygen. In severe cases, this can happen over 35 times per hour. This oxygen drop can wake you from a restful sleep hundreds of times per night. Most people with obstructive sleep apnea snore very loudly and can choke or gasp for air. Obstructive Sleep apnea occurs when the muscles in the throat relax to a point where the airway is blocked and air cannot pass freely.

Central sleep apnea (CSA) is a breathing disorder that causes your body to decrease or stop the effort of breathing during sleep. Often it is caused by a brain or heart issue. Certain medications (like pain medications) can be a cause.
Symptoms of OSA:
-
Brain fog
-
Headaches in the morning
-
High Blood pressure
-
Erectile dysfunction
-
Weight gain
-
Feeling depressed and lacking energy
Diagnosing Sleep Apnea:
Sleep apnea can be diagnosed with a take home sleep test. These tests are non-invasive, comfortable and can be done in your own bed.
The information from the device will be recorded by the phone app, then a sleep physician will report on the findings. The results are usually known within 1-2 days. Mild to Moderate OSA can be successfully treated with an oral appliance.
You can be sleeping soundly within 10 days!
